We were tasked to create an image that would not otherwise be found, to highlight what we’ve learned of directorial photography.
I wanted the objects in the photo to keep the viewer’s eyes moving. There are a lot of lines with the painting, the arrows, and edges of the boxes. There is also a lot of red, which is a color that can represent, among other things, war. Then there are the worn boots, which are combat boots that I wore in Iraq when I was in the Army.
I wanted the red to signify war, blood, violence, and aggression and then I wanted the viewer to wonder how the combat boots tie into the scene.
